Snow Gods World Premiere

Friday Oct. 6, 2006 dawned sunny and warm (for October in VT anyway). It was a great omen for the day marked as the World premiere of our new movie, Snow Gods. In fact, this is the first movie that we’ve premiered when it wasn’t cold, gray and raining outside!

Set-up began around 4:00 and the first show was scheduled to fire up at 6:30. Rooster, Joe, Hammer, Josh, Simon and the UVM Ski and Snowboard club hung up banners and displayed the tables while Lil’ John and Dave Watson went to the ice rink to gather snow for the ice cream. Things came together just in time as Ben and Jerry’s dropped off the complimentary mini-pints at the same time John and Dave were returning from the ice rink to chill down the creamy goodness. Our Subaru Outback we've dubbed, the "Meat Wagon," was parked outside, the sound and picture were checked, DJ Cre8 started spinning, and the stage was set for the dual premieres to go off.

The first show was a good number of families and kids, as well as die-hards who wanted to see it twice. A righteous applause from everyone at the first show boded well for the second premiere which promised to be the more rowdy crowd. Perhaps it was the pre-gaming or maybe the anticipation. I think it was a little of both. The second show at 9 pm piled up quickly maxing out theater capacity, with many people just sitting in the aisle or standing in rows three deep in the back. The late show was a super pumped crowd with chants and cheers and yelling to be heard throughout the movie. Some of the biggest reactions came for Joe’s cliff in the Chic Chocs, Simon’s downward kinking S-rail (as well as his over-the-tree cliff at Jay Peak), Will and Erik’s mastery of pipe and park and of course Hammer’s epic solo segment at Killington.

After the end credits rolled (and the movie truly isn’t over until the end of the end credits), the second raffle of the night kicked off with awesome prizes from all of our sponsors. Of special note were the Captain Freedom gloves by Kombi handed personally to the winner by the Hammer. They are the Hammer’s signature glove so it was of special meaning.

At around 11 we disassembled and packed up all our gear and everyone headed down to the new Plan-B bar in downtown Burlington. That's when things started to get a little out of hand and it only escalated when we headed over to Tyler’s apartment for an after-the-after party. We’ll just let the pictures tell the rest of the story…
