Buried at Jay Peak

By: Geoff McDonald

Late February brought a massive storm to the East Coast that covered many resorts deep in the white fluff.  As always, Jay Peak was calling for A LOT of snow so Shea Flynn, Garrett Russell and myself met up with local gal Asia Magriby to shoot away.

Even the trails were deep!

The storm did not disappoint.  After raging winds on the 23rd of February, the storm ended up bringing about 70" to the Jay area over the course of 5 days.  It was some of the lightest snow we had the pleasure of skiing (and filming) all year.

Our final day brought some struggles in the Jay sidecountry as the snow was too deep to move through.  This hasn't happened since the valentines day storm of 2007 so it was both fun to witness and frustrating for film.  The athletes struggled to hike up even a couple feet to film a line since the snow was pretty much 4-5 ft. deep with no bottom.  Areas that were usually great for shooting simply did not have enough pitch to get up to speed.  But we made the best of it anyway and got lots of epically (is that a word even?) deep images.
