Meathead East Coast Skiing Adventure Movies & Films

The mega New Years storm brought 2010 in with a bang and helped Meathead Films kick off the new decade with some rad powder footage.  With a hunch that central Maine would be the epicenter of snowfall, we headed towards Sugarloaf for a three day mission to ski whatever was filled in enough to shred.

Picked up Stacey in New Hampshire and met up with Dan Marion up at The Loaf on January 1st.  A quick stop at infamous watering hole, The Rack, and we teamed up with Silas Miller and the McDermott brothers: Ryan and Andy.  Also talked to the legendary Seth Wescott and worked out our early cat access to get an hour or two in before the masses. 

Basically the next three days were like this:

Day 1: Up at 4:45am, up at the top by 6:30, still dark, windy as all hell, at first light went into the woods and cliff areas, got a few shots, things were surprisingly filled in, skied and explored the terrain the rest of the day

Day 2: Early lift ride with patrol 7:45am, ducked into the glades - pretty chewed up, found a few staches, pioneered out into the sidecountry (Maine woods are thick as hell!), got momentarily lost, bushwhacking, few more shots, dinner, Wild Stallions premiere and party at the Widowmaker - lots of bone saw shots

Day 3: Finally a bit of sun, Marion insanely hung over, Stacey shreds some untouched lines that we had been waiting for, hiked around, setting up the perfect shot... and lost the good light - damn!, fun day to end on though, made us hungry to come back for more

Overall a productive 3 days, learned all about local legend, lore and stashes by longtime Sugarloaf local and CVA graduate: Marion himself.  We'll be back to Sugarloaf again this season to try and put together a nice segment for the new movie.  Thanks to Ethan for all his help organizing the trip!
